This one time I got bullied in the 4th grade by this boy named Adam.  He kept messing with me, and I told my counselor.  She told me to stay away from him.

The next day we had a substitute teacher.  I wanted to be alone, but he came over to me and kept saying “Why are you sitting by yourself?” and he kept laughing at me.  So I yelled at him and said “LEAVE ME ALONE.” But he would not leave me alone.  I felt like I was a crumpled piece of paper.   -A’Brianna McKinnie, Writing for the Soul Workshop™

The Bully DiariesThe Bully Diaries

Chances are that you experienced bullying in your life. Whether your experience was as a victim, a bystander, or the bully, if you search your memories, you will probably find instances when bullying was a part of your life. For many of us, these experiences have defined us and shaped us. Our experiences made us stronger, and helped us become who we are today.

Download NowWhen you are being bullied, it is hard to think about much more than getting through today. For others, there is no today. Their experience being bullied was too overwhelming, and drove them to a devastating and permanent solution to the temporary pain.

Through a community partnership with Stand for the Silent, Writing for the Soul Workshop™ has collected stories, letters and poems from youth, teens and adults. The result of this partnership was a platform to give a voice to over 1 million children and adults standing against bullying through our #writeforthesilent Project. These stories are pieces of lives impacted by bullying; written to show everyone affected by bullying that you are not alone, that you can survive the experience, that you are somebody. A portion of the proceeds from book sales goes to support Stand for the Silent.

In the photo, Kirk is pictured here speaking with First Lady Michelle Obama.  The first time I met Kirk, I knew that I’d met one of the most genuine men I’d ever met in my life. He truly wants to make sure that children like A’Brianna can live in a world where bullying does not exist. When Kirk shared with me how he lost his son, Ty …it changed me.

“Ty had a big heart and always had a big smile for everyone. He loved to hunt and help others. Ty was small for his age. Two years of being bullied was just too much for him. He retaliated against the bully and was suspended. We lost Ty on May 13th, 2010.” -Kirk, Stand For The Silent
